The first part of our tour today was quite productive, we saw elephants, hyenas, buffaloes and rhinos shortly after going into the northern section of the Park. After that we swung south again but did not have much luck all the way down to the White Umfolozi river at view point 27. Even general game was sparse and we had to wait until we were close to Nyalazi gate before we got lucky with a lone male lion sitting regally under a tree. A little earlier we were lucky enough to get a rare sighting of a black rhino. We did see ground hornbills at view point 17 in the south. It’s always a treat to see these huge magnificent birds. Elsewhere in the Park today there were two separate cheetah sightings, also near view point 17, as well as a lion kill on the Isivavaneni road in the north of the Park.
