Turtle Tours

St Lucia Turtle Tour Season (NOV-FEB) takes you on a magical and life changing experience,

to watch one of nature’s most amazing circles of life – the egg laying process of the leatherback and loggerhead sea turtles.

The turtles’ instinct is so amazing, that they return to their place of birth, after years at sea, to lay their eggs.

St Lucia Turtle Tours run in the evenings because the turtles generally emerge from the sea to lay their eggs after dark.

You will be collected from your accommodation in St Lucia after dark for a night drive through the iSimangaliso Wetland Park on your way to Cape Vidal where the search for turtles begins.

On these night drives nocturnal wildlife such as leopards, hippo, buffalo, hyena and other antelope can often be seen.

Once at Cape Vidal you will be driven 23km North along the beach, further into the iSimangaliso Wetland Park wilderness.

Here you start your search for the secretive leatherback and loggerhead turtles as they dig a nest in the sand to lay their eggs before covering them up and returning to the ocean in order to continue their epic life’s journey.

The duration on the beach is approximately 4 hours as the vehicles are only allowed to be on the beach 2 hrs before and 2 hrs after low tide.

During the tour there will be a stop to have a light dinner under the stars.

Tour start time will be confirmed at the time of the booking or on arrival in St Lucia.

Please note: no turtle sightings are guaranteed and the tour is weather and tide dependent.
