EuroZulu Wildlife Diary – Sunday 17 February 2013

Weather: Rainy and chilly early on but later the sun broke through and it became hot and humid.

On the way to the Park we saw two hyenas slinking down towards a river bed. After a slow start in the Park we came across a couple of lions lying next to the road between Mpila and marker 12 in the south. The did not move much during the course of the morning and, in fact, were in almost the same spot when we passed by again on our way to lunch. Eles all over the south today with a big breeding herd near Umganu being the highlight of the day. At Mpila we spotted a ( very venomous ) vine snake in a tree near the toilets.

Umfolozi Big Five sightings: Leopard, Lion, Elephant, Rhino, Buffalo… and Hyeanas.

Hluhluwe Big Five sightings: Leopard, Lion, Elephant, Rhino, Buffalo.

General Game: Warthog, Wildebeest, Giraffe, Zebra, Baboon etc.

Till the next sighting!!!
