EuroZulu Wildlife Diary – Tuesday 21 May 2013

Weather: A very cold morning turned out to be a beautiful windless Autumn day.

We had a good hyena sighting at the buffalo carcass from yesterday’s lion kill. These awesome carnivores were doing what they do best, crunching and cracking away at the carcass bones. Then, near marker 26 we spotted a large elephant breeding herd on the western slopes. A little while later they made their way to the road right in front of us. We were also lucky enough to have good rhino and buffalo sightings as well as a rare sighting of a Jackals Buzzard.

Umfolozi Big Five sightings: Lion, Elephant, Buffalo, Rhino…. and hyena.

Hluhluwe Big Five sightings: Elephant, Buffalo, Rhino… and wild dogs.

General Game: Warthog, Wildebeest, Zebra, Giraffe, Baboon etc.
