Another hot day early on today although it did cool down towards mid morning. Luckily the wind did not pick up to any great extent. At the main Umfolozi bridge around 09h30 this morning six lions made an appearance in the river bed about 200 m away from the road. They stayed there for a while before moving off into the reeds to escape the heat. Towards the end of Sontuli loop a little later a big breeding herd of elephants crossed the Umfolozi river on their way to the other side !! Earlier on just opposite Masinda lodge a lone hyena was prowling around looking a little agitated. Nearby the monkeys and general game were also showing signs of alarm but after waiting for a while nothing materialized so we moved on. General game is still sparse but we did have good rhino and buffalo sightings.
