EuroZulu Guided Tours & Safaris Hluhluwe / Umfolozi : Sunday 28 Sep 2014

For a wonderful change we had cool, overcast and damp weather conditions in the Park after some overnight rain and you could almost see the animals smiling after the dry and windy weather of late. We were spoilt rotten by cats and dogs today ! First we ran into a pack of wild dogs near marker 25 in the south and then 1 km down Sontuli loop from viewpoint 17 some lions had bought down a fully grown giraffe. The one male guarding the kill was so fat and full of meat that he could hardly move ! First prize for the day was a cheetah kill right in front of us just below Mpila Camp. We watched it  drag an impala into the clearing beside our vehicle, and proceed to tuck into it after recovering from the chase and kill. What a treat !! There was also an excellent elephant sighting between markers 15 and 17 in the south but rhinos and buffalos were scarce today.
