EuroZulu Guided Tours & Safaris Hluhluwe / Umfolozi : Monday 29 September 2014

Today dawned overcast and cool, just as it was yesterday. A large part of the Park had good rain overnight and it rained quite heavily in parts while we were on tour today. After the heat and dry weather over the last few months I will never complain again about rain while we are on tour…. it cooled the air beautifully and settled all the dust floating in the air. The animals were loving it and the morale of everybody seemed to have lifted. We got a big male lion again today, guarding the giraffe which was bought down on Saturday evening. There is a debate as to whether the giraffe was killed by these lions or killed by a lightning strike. Either way the lions will have food for a few days… depending on when the hyenas pitch up for their share of the spoils ! Elsewhere we had a great sighting of a very big elephant breeding herd between markers 20 & 21 in the south. No rhinos to be seen today but plenty of buffaloes on show.
