We had to work long and hard for our rewards today but, eventually, after a frustratingly quiet day we came across a pride of lions near Masinda camp. They were sitting majestically on the burnt ground towards the river and their body language clearly said : “ this is our territory and if you’ve got anything to say about it, bring it on, you’ll make my day !! “ Earlier we had a good elephant sighting at the main Umfolozi bridge and also at Nyalazi gate where a small herd of these giant pachyderms have been drinking from a broken water pipe recently. The early part of our day was extremely quiet but, as has happened so often in the past, “ it aint over till she sings!!”
