A very quiet day in the Park today despite the cool and overcast weather. The lions that have been guarding the giraffe carcass near marker 17 in the south seem to have abandoned their prize and the hyenas and vultures are closing in for their share of the spoils. Elsewhere in the Park there was a good wild dog sighting, also near marker 17. We saw a few isolated bull elephants here and there but rhino sightings were non existent as they seem to have been for a few days now. Buffalo and giraffe sightings were also few and far between. It could be that it was so quiet today because of the thunder and lightning last night. Animals get overwhelmed by this kind of weather and tend to retreat deep into the bush.
