We had the cheetah sighting of a lifetime in the Park today – a mom with three cubs no more than 5 meters from our vehicle ! The cubs are about two months old and soooooo cute!! Sadly, if this is the same cheetah nom with cubs that we’ve been seeing near viewpoint 17 recently, she seems to have lost one of her cubs. This is not unusual and she will be very fortunate if she does not lose at least two more of her cubs before they reach their first birthday. We also had two separate lion sightings, the first was a single lion in the river bed at viewpoint 17, and the second sighting was a few members of the Bridge pride lying on the sand bank just off the main Umfolozi bridge. There was a really good leopard sighting as well – near marker 28 in the south. At Bhavulomu pan not far from where the lions were, 6 elephants were playing in the mud and we sat with them for about 30 minutes before lunch.
